Wake Up to Views of the Worthington Glacier!
Opening 2011, the new Hoodoo Cirque Village completes the vision for Alaska Backcountry Adventures base area by introducing full service amenities to the top of Thompson Pass allowing our guests to opt for an inclusive, relaxing stay. The new guest cabins were constructed with the idea of providing simple, affordable accommodations with the backdrop of the Worthington Glacier, Python Peak, the Berlin Wall and the rest of Thompson Pass’s legendary terrain right out your doorstep. The village consists of ABA’s office, six guest cabins, a shower/bathroom cabin, a kitchen cabin and a centralized communal yurt for dining and socializing. Living in the HooDoo Cirque offers the best of both worlds - a dynamic, engaging atmosphere in the communal areas as well as privacy in your cabin.
There is no better alarm clock than the sound of rotors whirling, but expect to awake to the chime of the bluebird bell letting you know the weather is clear and we are flying! Guests can choose from either a simple continental breakfast or a more elegant meal while the guides perform their morning briefing in the guide house. During breakfast, expect a personalized update from your guide as to the morning plan and don’t forget to grab your boots off the drying rack in the yurt before getting geared up for the day. The bluebird bell sounds again ten minutes prior to fly time allowing your group to meet with your guide at the staging area to prepare for an epic day in the Chugach Range.
Living in the Circle
Arranged in a semi-circle around the central two-story yurt, each cabin is arranged to house two people in a room with adjoining rooms available for groups of four (the perfect number to fill a helicopter) allowing for a private cabin for each heligroup. There is a separate bed in a sleeping loft, shelves for your gear and a table for your laptop to connect to our high speed wireless internet connection. Private rooms rates are available upon request. There are only six guest cabins, so be sure to contact us right away for availability information and booking.
Staying in the HooDoo Cirque Village guarantees your group priority in getting out into the field first thing in the morning; however, keep in mind that availability is quite limited with only six guest cabins available for booking. These packages sell out quickly each season, so book early for the best selection of dates. Due to our need to maximize our lodging facilities, the minimum booking is for seven days starting on a Sunday with ten day and two week packages also available.
Our seven day packages include five days of heliskiing with snowcat backup options on the other two days. If we fly every day of your trip, you may upgrade your additional days at any time. A full day of heliskiing consists of six runs (average run 4,000 ft) and a snowcat day consists of four runs with additional runs always available via either helicopter or snowcat, conditions permitting.
The Cirque Café’s menu consists of healthy, fresh food options such as local Alaskan halibut and hearty pasta dishes. All meals can be billed to your cabin with prices typically ranging from $12 to $20 for basic meals and gourmet dinner options available for around $30.
